Moving from Climate Change Impact Assessment to Socio-Economic VA in the Arab Region

The fourth regional training workshop of RICCAR, held 8-10 June in Beirut, was organized within the framework of the Sida project support to RICCAR and implemented by ESCWA in collaboration with the LAS, ACSAD, GIZ, SMHI, UNESCO Office in Cairo, UNISDR and the WMO. The aim of the workshop was to provide a training on the use of regional climate modelling and hydrological modelling outputs to support socio-economic vulnerability assessment in the Arab region and training on how to draw upon the vulnerability assessment indicators and mapping layers that will be made available on the RICCAR Regional Knowledge Hub.

The Climate Impacts: Global and Regional Adaptation Support Platform (ci:grasp)

The Climate Impacts: Global and Regional Adaptation Support Platform (ci:grasp) is a web-based climate information service. It aims to support decision makers in developing and emerging countries to prioritise adaptation needs, and to plan and implement appropriate adaptation measures.

A Community of Practice to support adaptation to climate change addresses priorities and builds on practical experiences of adaptation decision-makers from many of the world’s countries, particularly India, Indonesia, Mexico, the Philippines, Tunisia, South Africa, Grenada and Germany, which are all partner countries of the "Inventory of Methods for Adaptation to Climate Change" (IMACC) project.
